When it came to the birth of my third child, as a single parent, I found myself with the invaluable assistance of three remarkable women. Little did I know, they were, in essence, the doulas I never knew I needed. In 2018, I recognized my calling and decided to turn my passion into a full-time profession. Before 2018, I wasn't aware that being a doula was even an option. From that moment forward, I dedicated my energy and enthusiasm to building my business.

Today, it is my utmost pleasure to extend my love, compassion, and unwavering support to the families in my community.

About Maria

More than 40 years ago, the idea for Yakima Valley Doula Services began to take shape, long before I could anticipate what lay ahead. Let's take a journey from that initial vision to the thriving reality it is today.

In my early years, I held two passions close to my heart: babysitting and being an active part of the Girl Scouts. Babysitting introduced me to the stages of child development, while the Girl Scouts honed my business skills, community involvement, and mentoring abilities. Little did I know, these experiences would form the building blocks of my future.

It was in the late '90s that I became a mother, welcoming three children into the world. Unfortunately, my first birthing experience was marked by trauma due to overcrowding in the delivery unit. My baby spent time in the NICU and required two years of physical therapy. Three years later, during the birth of my daughter, I faced an emergency C-section, leading to a challenging recovery. Fortunately, a group of supportive female friends stood by me during this time.
